DarkFighter is Hikvision's low-light camera technology. It keeps a clean colour picture at dusk, under street lights and in dim rooms. In real darkness it switches to discreet infrared (invisible light).

How does DarkFighter work?
Every camera struggles as light falls. The picture gets grainy, moving people blur, and the camera switches to black and white early.
DarkFighter models use a more sensitive sensor, a wide lens that gathers more light, and noise reduction set up for low light. What you get:
Colour for longer. At dusk, under street lamps or a porch light, DarkFighter stays in colour when a standard camera has already switched to infrared.
Cleaner night footage. Less grain means faces and clothing are easier to make out, and recordings compress better, so they take less hard drive space.
Discreet infrared in full darkness. No visible white light, which suits cameras that face neighbours, bedroom windows or the road.

DarkFighter is Hikvision's low-light imaging technology. It pairs a more sensitive sensor with a wide-aperture lens and image processing so the camera holds a clean, usable colour picture in far less light than a standard camera, and switches to infrared only when it is genuinely dark.
DarkFighter or ColorVu: which should I choose?
Choose ColorVu when you want colour footage all night and a visible white light is acceptable or welcome as a deterrent. Choose DarkFighter when you want strong low-light performance with discreet infrared at night and no visible light, for example facing neighbours, bedrooms or a road.
Do DarkFighter cameras have AcuSense?
Most current G2-generation DarkFighter models, such as the DS-2CD2386G2-IU and DS-2CD2346G2-IU, also include AcuSense human and vehicle detection.
Do DarkFighter cameras record in colour at night?
They hold colour for longer as light falls, and with some ambient light such as street lighting they may stay in colour. In full darkness they switch to black-and-white infrared. For guaranteed colour in darkness choose ColorVu.
What recorder do I need for DarkFighter cameras?
Any Hikvision NVR that supports the camera's resolution. For 8MP models choose a 4K-capable NVR, and allow more hard drive capacity than you would for 4MP cameras. We will size the storage for you.
