Which door entry system suits which building?
- A single house or gate — a one-button door station and an indoor screen, such as the HiLook IP video intercom kit. Answer from your phone when you're out.
- Replacing an old audio intercom — a 2-wire video intercom reuses the two cores already in the wall. No new cable through a finished building. Tell us what is there and we'll confirm.
- Blocks of flats and HMOs — a modular door station with a button or keypad call for each flat, an indoor station per flat, and fob or code entry for residents.
- Offices, schools and surgeries — reception answers the door from a desk screen, with access control for staff on the same system.
- Vehicle and pedestrian gates — weather-rated door stations with relay outputs (a switched contact) to release a gate or barrier. We'll check the gate's input requirements with you.

Can I answer my door from my phone?
Yes. IP and 2-wire video intercoms from Hikvision and HiLook connect to the Hik-Connect app, so you can see and speak to visitors and release the door from anywhere with a data connection.
Can a video intercom use my existing intercom wiring?
Often, yes. A 2-wire system is designed to run over the two cores left by an older audio intercom, which saves re-cabling a finished building.
What is the difference between an intercom and access control?
An intercom lets a visitor call you so you can decide whether to let them in. Access control lets authorised people let themselves in with a fob, card, code or face. Most buildings with shared doors use both.
Will a video intercom work with an electric gate?
Yes. Door stations have relay outputs that trigger a gate controller or lock release.
Do you install door entry systems?
No. We supply and advise, and depending on your requirements we recommend a qualified trade installer who covers your area.
